It's true...I have never paid more than $300 for a flight. And with a few key tips for you to keep in mind, I'm going make this true for you, too!
Buy your tickets in the evening on a weekday.
The rumors are true! Flights are usually always cheaper on the weekdays. To avoid overspending, check out flights on Monday night. Tuesday night is prime time, but tickets can still be very cheap throughout the rest of the week.
Timing: not too early, not too late.
The timing of your purchase is crucial to getting a good deal. As you know, waiting until the last minute ensures a higher ticket price. However, the same can be said for buying your ticket too far in advance. For domestic flights, three months in advance should be your target. For international travel, begin your search two to eight months out.
Avoid flying on weekends.
Although sometimes this is unavoidable, the cheapest flights are found during the weekday or even Saturday. Because most people travel for work or for a vacation, Saturdays are usually spent sight seeing, not traveling. If possible, travel during the week, and look for the least popular flight times to try and save even more.
My biggest flex: $100 roundtrip ticket to LAX...3 days after Christmas :)
