How to Make the Ultimate Roadtrip Playlist

Where are you going?

One of the most important parts of making a great roadtrip playlist is deciding where to go. Are you going to the Grand Canyon? Are you going to Jackson Hole, Wyoming? Are you going to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania? Are you going to NYC? Are you going to Portland, Oregon? Answering that question will help you to decide on the vibe you want your playlist to give! Come on - you can't go to NYC without Taylor Swift singing "Welcome to New York" as you arrive, right?

What artists do you associate with your destination?

I'll be honest, I can't think about driving through Arizona without Houndmouth's "Sedona" coming to mind. So that's the next step of making your dream playlist - what songs do you associate with specific places and who sings them? Another example is my brain goes straight to "No Role Modelz" by J. Cole when I think about Philadelphia, because of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air reference that he makes in the song.

What mood are you wanting during this trip?

I know that this question seems a little bit odd, but I think sometimes we don't take time to consider that there are times in our lives where are destinations aren't ones we're looking forward to arrive at. I have had to go on roadtrips before where the end point is a funeral - so that's what I mean. Obviously if you are on your way to Schlitterbahn waterpark, your mood is going to typically be a little more upbeat! But another thing to consider is the weather in your area - are you going to the Pacific Northwest? Is it going to rain your entire trip? You have to think of all possibilities!!
